The Sumner County Amateur Radio Association held their monthly meeting on June 12, 2025 at the Sumner County EOC. The meeting promptly started at 1900 hours with SCARA President Jon Massaro, W4JDM, calling the meeting to order and leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
The May meeting minutes were approved along with the Trustees report and the Secretary/Treasurer report was next. After the report was unanimously approved the Secretary/Treasurer Steve Gittin, W4STX, read a letter he received in the mail. The letter was from the Internal Revenue Service and indicated the 501c3 status of the Sumner County Amateur Radio Club was approved. This was an exciting bit of information that Steve kept close to his chest for a few days until the meeting. This new non-profit status of the club opens up many new doors. This wonderful achievement is the culmination of a group of SCARA members, led by Jon, W4JDM, who have put in countless hours of their own time for no personal benefit. We, as a club, commend Jon and his team on their efforts to bring the club to this new level of recognition.
Some upcoming events were discussed during New Business and the meeting was adjourned at approximately 1945.
After the meeting adjournment Brian, NG2S, showcased the recovered NWS ballon and radiosonde he recently recovered along with a brief explanation on how he recovered the balloon that landed under the cover of darkness one evening.
Another great SCARA meeting is now in the books. In total there were 22 members and 2 guests in attendance.
