Saturday August 30, 2025 the Sumner County Amateur Radio Association gathered together for the monthly luncheon at Jumbo and Delicious in Hendersonville.
This had to be the best luncheon thus far. 18 people in attendance. Members, hams from other clubs and families all came together for a fun few hours. The food was delicious! This place is a definite hit! Free fountain drink refills, large tasty burgers, excellent service. That is the recipe for success! We had the entire side of the establishment to ourselves.
Not only was this a lunch but it was quite the show and tell, tech support and hamfest event. Many of us brought our Meshtastic nodes and by the end all 8 nodes were all able to communicate properly. There is a lot of settings in the Meshtastic software and without a full understanding of what each setting does it is very difficult to get this set up properly to communicate with your friends. Show and tell included a Explorer Pota 33H carbon fiber mast. This thing is so compact yet light and strong. A highly recommended piece of gear. Some heathkit gear was delivered from one ham to another as well as a 1kw dummyload in a can kit that was sold at the gathering.
These get togethers are not just for a few of us to have an excuse to get lunch. There is so much information that flows, connections that are made, knowledge given, experiences brought to lite. Equipment and gear is traded, bought and sold. New technologies and modes are discussed. It is like a monthly gathering of some to elmer others and impair their knowledge upon the them in a low key, cordial and subdued atmosphere that welcomes anyone and everyone. So much fun, and good food of course.
