On Saturday April 19th 2025 at 11am a handful of amateur radio operators gathered at a local eatery for the monthly Sumner County Amateur Radio Association luncheon. The group met at McAllister’s Deli on Nashville Pike in Gallatin. Good food and great conversation was enjoyed by all. One topic that was discussed at length was how the luncheons are such a great idea and are enjoyed. It allows fellow hams to spend time together discussing aspects of amateur radio that they do not normally have time to do at a monthly club meeting.
In attendance, in no particular order, were David – KQ4RGB, Brian – NG2S, Mike – NK4Z, Steve – KI4ZDF, Jon – W4JDM and Tony – W1VS who was accompanied by his YXL.
Brian, NG2S, brought a neat little 70cm antenna that was intriguing to the group. The antenna was a Moxon that was on a 3d printed frame along with adapters for painters poles that can be used to support the antenna in the air. A SMA connector and 22 awg stranded wire made up the elements of the Moxon. The entire package is approx. 9.5” x 3.75”.
As the monthly luncheons continue we hope to see more and more of you come down, enjoy some good food, meet some great people and talk about radio or any other technology projects you may be working on. Bring something you are proud of or a new toy you acquired to show off to the group.
The next luncheon will be on May 24th 11am, location to be determined. So keep an eye out for an email in the near future.
